As far as I can tell, it installs as some sort of service. Most likely to be use'd by Arcsoft media impressions software. I asume it possabily use's it for connecting cameras and the like, for use in direct importing of video or possably also audio files to make home movies ect.

Daemons are servants waiting for jobs from their masters. AC is ArcSoft. ACDaemon is an ArcSoft daemon looking for work for ArcSoft. ArcSoft is software used by equipment manufacturers (OEM) for digital imaging and video solutions. Most of the ArcSoft’s software is bundled with new mobile phones, digital cameras, personal computers, image scanners, and computer printers. Additionally, ArcSoft develops embedded software for electronic imaging products.

For the first time and without asking for execution of a program, this window labelled "Microsoft" popped up saying : ArcSoft Daemon has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

its in your kodak easy share program. go to control panel, find programs, find kodak and click on it as an uninstall and it offers uninstall or change or repair. I chose repair as I knew I had installed the program and considered it as safe.

I keep my task manager open and when the cpu usage is 100% and frozen, I end the process...which temporarily relieves the problem until it re appears

The AGK Audio/Video Grabber is using ACDaemon.exe to recon when the grabber dongle is put in usb it works fine for me on XP. I recommend not to uninstall when you have a AGK grabber.

Came with scanner software had to uninstall it as caused firefox to freeze up. Didn't agree to this extra software being installed and no notification it would be.

The first question is... Do you have (or use) any software by the ArcSoft Company? I have an external video capture card from the Hauppauge company that comes with ArcSoft programs used to watch TV on the computer. Unfortunately, when some programs are installed, there are many "extras" installed also. (often called bloatware) You generally don't use or need these extras, but they're "bundled" with the stuff you need. Hackers are also VERY clever at disguising viruses and trojans to look "almost" identical to real programs. I use my Arcsoft program, but check their website for assurance?

I got it from the Kodak Easy Share, too.

Best practices for resolving ACDaemon issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with ACDaemon. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off doing a repair of your installation, or in the case of Windows 8, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.

To help you analyze the ACDaemon.exe process on your computer, the following programs have proven to be helpful: Security Task Manager displays all running Windows tasks, including embedded hidden processes, such as keyboard and browser monitoring or Autostart entries. A unique security risk rating indicates the likelihood of the process being potential spyware, malware or a Trojan. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detects and removes sleeping spyware, adware, Trojans, keyloggers, malware and trackers from your hard drive.
