What is Adobelmsvc.exe?

The genuine Adobelmsvc.exe file is a software component of Adobe LM Service by Adobe Systems.
"Adobelmsvc.exe" is an executable file in Windows that is used and/or installed with all Adobe products. It monitors for hardware changes in the system. It maintains a database of licensed hardware that is currently running so that it can detect something different with a particular piece of hardware. If changes are found, the file may disable all Adobe products until it receives registration information for the new hardware. The purpose is to ensure that pirated versions of Adobe products are not being used, such as when other hardware like a new hard drive or a removable stick is installed or inserted. Adobe Systems began in 1982, developing PostScript language and digital fonts. They evolved into a global provider of software like Photoshop, Portable Document Format (PDF) software, and more.

with a bit of research, it seems that this is adobe activation spyware

It is an annoying, but somewhat necessary, activation/copy protection file that installs with Photoshop CS2.

This is Adobe's license management service that is used to make sure you are not using a pirated copy of their software. It does this by examining your hardware on your computer and asking you to reregister if this changes. This can not be disabled as it will reenable when you use one of their products.

It's the licensing prog for Adobe products
It runs in the background, spying on your PC to make sure you are not pirating their software. Doesn't work, either.

Part of the Adobe Photoshop CS2 install routine related perhaps to activation.
Adobe software activation. Sends activation serial to Adobe + your IP addr.
with bitdefender create sometimes a loop infinite
If deleted or renamed, Acrobat 7 will reinstall it when lauched. It also launches at least 2 other other processes sometimes.
It's one of those files that allow pirates to own cracked copies but nag legit users constantly every time they change their computer clock.
Use Diamond software's ProcessGuard program & you will see that it installs drivers with consistently different and weird names each time it runs, & it's running times are not consistent. I got a deadly worm on my computer till recently & almost certainly it was using Adobelmsvc's drivers to move around the system. Be safe & block it & nothing happens to Photoshop.
Remove all permissions from it (right click, security tab) and it won't run and acrobat can't reinstall it!
Adobe License Management Service is a DRM type of software to prevent piracy. If the .exe (usually located in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe Systems Shared\Service") is deleted or renamed, the program reinstalls via a .dll file (Adobelmsvc Installer.dll) included with every Adobe Suite application (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, etc.) once that program is next run. While it may keep a record of your machine-specific hardware, it does actually access the internet to check your serial number against a database, and possibly phone home to record license offenses.
It is part of PS2. It is there Licensing probe.
As with the iTunes DRM service, this can be misused by hackers to load programs in the background indefinitely. Is more persistent than a virus, because McAfee and Symantec don't view this as malware.
Adobe License Management Service. Also related is adobelm_cleanup.00001 or similar. Terminating the cleanup process(es) first usually makes sure adomelmsvc doesn't restart when you terminate it as well. This spyware contacts with your encrypted information. If it receives a response telling it that your copy is unauthorized, it can shut down the Adobe software package you are currently running. Blocking in the Windows XP hosts file seems to block its access, unterminated, the service tends to interfere with the program and causes slightly laggy response.
It can cause serious performance issues and cause your system to appear to hang, especially if no Internet connection exists.
Continues to load even if you don't have CS installed. Acrobat 7 contains it, and if you rename it, it will reinstall itself again. Use ZoneAlarm Pro to kill the process and block it from accessing the Internet (or anything else for that matter). Also seems to load multiple copies of Adobe Cleanup files, which are unnecessary.
Adobe registering file. It's clearly Spyware & Lagware. Loads anytime you view a PDF in a Web Browser, but not associated with actually helping you to open and view the PDF file. Don't suggest to remove, but you SHOULD disable it in Services, msc and block it with your firewall from all 'net access. It's a crap file, pure and simple.

It will cause failures in acrobat in web browsers, is intrusive and backwards and clunky. Verdict=useless pain in the ass

This app consumes 100% CPU when it executes, so I am going to write a replacement app with the same name that simply exits. I'll post the app if it works!
"Adobe Lisence Manager Service" if you do not register online, it will run with Photoshop CS2 and freeze photoshop like pregnency pause for some time untill a error message popup.
Adobe License Manager Service, runs with any new Adobe products including Acrobat READER. System hog, and performs no function of benefit to the user.
This is Adobe's license management service
Adobe spyware that spys on you, reactivates itself like any normal spyware would
Also invades offline PCs via USB to disable five year old CSs
it's an activation process, and its nothing up against a good firewall, trust that, all tested :)
Spyware, adobe went on my hard drive and stole my identity

Used Adode licence checking. When service is disabled via services.msc, it's run type again changes to "manual" after each run of photoshop. Renaming or deleting of this file does not help - it reappears again. If file "Adobelmsvc Installer.dll" renamed or deleted, photoshop fails to start. Does anybody knows how to get rid of this?

Speaking in accessible language is a service company Adobe (license manager), which checks to see whether you are using a pirated copy of their product. Rumor has it that this service is studying computer hardware, and ask you to register if it is changed. In general, it is a necessary service that is not a virus, but behaves as a rootkit.

Best practices for resolving Adobelmsvc issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with Adobelmsvc. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off repairing of your installation or, for Windows 8 and later versions, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.

To help you analyze the Adobelmsvc.exe process on your computer, the following programs have proven to be helpful: Security Task Manager displays all running Windows tasks, including embedded hidden processes, such as keyboard and browser monitoring or Autostart entries. A unique security risk rating indicates the likelihood of the process being potential spyware, malware or a Trojan. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detects and removes sleeping spyware, adware, Trojans, keyloggers, malware and trackers from your hard drive.
