What is BrcmSetSecurity.exe?

The genuine BrcmSetSecurity.exe file is a software component of Intel® Wireless Display (WiDi) by Intel Corporation.
Intel® developed WiDi Wireless Display technology, which wirelessly streams media content, (audio, photo, and video), from a computer to a compatible or adapter-equipped HDTV. (The computer must also meet certain CPU, graphics, and software requirements.) Setup of the HDTV to receive WiDi includes display of a four-digit security code on the TV screen which is entered on the computer. Although Intel does not specify what "BrcmSetSecurity.exe" does, it is probably part of this process and would only run during setup. It will be uninstalled if "Intel® WiDi" as a whole is removed via the Control Panel's "Uninstall a Program" applet. Note that "Miracast," similar to WiDi, is now natively supported in Microsoft Windows 8.1 and 10 and Intel discontinued marketing and development of WiDi in 2016. This is not the same as "deprecating." New updates will not be released but it will still work.
