What is CAMService.exe?

The genuine CAMService.exe file is a software component of Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility by Intel Corporation - Mobile Wireless Group.
Intel's Cloud Access Manager Application is part of their PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility for Intel® network card drivers since September 2014. "CAMService.exe" is one of its executables and is a background Windows service. It implements "Continuously Aware Mode" (CAM) for use with WiFi routers and access points unable to accept "Power Save Polling." Options in the "CAMUI.exe" user interface can shut off "CAMService.exe", or use the Control Panel "Uninstall" applet to remove Intel PROSet/Wireless Software. The Intel Cloud Access Manager is distinct from and appears unrelated to Dell's One Identity Cloud Access Manager enterprise cloud security solution. If the subfolders "\Intel\CAM\bin\" are not in "C:\Program Files," and there is a webcam in use by Hercules (a brand of Guillemot Corp., S.A.), the "CAMService.exe" module may be from the Hercules Dualpix Chat and Show driver. Intel, the world's largest and highest-valued semiconductor manufacturer, is committed to enhancing smart and connected technology.
