I had a virus (browser redirect) trhat was masquerading as c:\windows\system32\dmload.sys - used AVG rescue CD to kill it

Can be corrupted by disk defragmentation, causing a hell of a mission to get your pc back to normal! Copy it from another PC, boot with a bootable CD, and overwrite the file before trying to re-install Windows after a Defrag crash.
