External information from Paul Collins:

  • "DVDSentry" is not required to run at start up. Anti-spyware from Dell. Seems that after Dell found out certain applications being installed from DVD's would report back information about what customers were watching, they decided to implement an anti-spyware service. Run manually before installation starts

seems like it comes pre-installed on Dell computers with DVD drives

Came with Dell laptop. Watches for DVD's to be inserted. I vaguely recall reading something about Dell installing it because some DVD's were installing malware on their machines and it is supposed to prevent this from happening.

i know that it's apart of the DVDsentry application and i do not believe that it's harmful. The weird thing is my computer seems to access it every minute or less
