Necessary driver for the High Definition Audio bus. Without it, programs such as 'SoundMAX' will not load.

This driver is on the High Definition Audio Bus and is essential to the Front Panel Audio operatation. If the front panel audio is improperly configured (ie. the wrong dongled pins are coneccted to the motherboard or the incorrect pci video device driver is installed then the hdaudbus.sys driver will cause problems when an audio jack is plugged into the front or rear jack). Setting bios to AC97 prevents BSOD when plugging into front jack but does not eliminate error when plugging into rear HD Jack. BSOD suggests disabling video adapter since driver is installed when video driver is install

This message is harmless- hd (high definition) aud (audio) bus (silver track on MB leads to 7.1-5.1 audio back panel). MoBo P5N-D at XP32pro startup, found new hardware "microsoft UAA cabinet file is needed" linked to Win OS. It's just asking for drivers for High Definition operation. Do you need HD operating? Plug in your SPDIF/ FibOpt or go to [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111 ] to request hot fix driver to be emailed to you to solve the UAA/hdaudbus issue either from popping up at startup or no audio sound.

Best practices for resolving HDAudBus issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with HDAudBus. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off doing a repair of your installation, or in the case of Windows 8, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.

To help you analyze the HDAudBus.sys process on your computer, the following programs have proven to be helpful: Security Task Manager displays all running Windows tasks, including embedded hidden processes, such as keyboard and browser monitoring or Autostart entries. A unique security risk rating indicates the likelihood of the process being potential spyware, malware or a Trojan. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detects and removes sleeping spyware, adware, Trojans, keyloggers, malware and trackers from your hard drive.
