This file is supposed to be connected to the HP Photosmart Printer but I cant figure out why it keeps popping up

This file is needed to install the HP Photo smart Card Reader

There are two separate files on my computer with this name. One is in the printer's program file, the other is in System32. To my understanding, the one in System32 is the one causing the ruckus (Unable to start this driver). So all I need to do is delete it?

Definitely a conflict between Zone Alarm and HP photosmart card reader driver. Giving PML full 'ALLOW' in ZA didn't fix it for me.

I have this process stopped, which prevents me from printing on an HP7350 printer, with an error "unable to start HPHipm11.exe" Consequently, I think it's necessary for certain printers.

I got an error about this after I hooked up and hp printer and then unhooked it and rebooted

I just started getting this error. After reading comments and forgettting which printer I had, checked and discovered i too have HP and it is a photosmart printer. What puzzles me is, why is this error only popping up now? the only thing i have installed recently is a newer version of PC tools SPYWARE doctor. Could this be related?
  youngstah
The error message may display every time the computer is started, or only occasionally. After closing the error message, the printer may or may not print and allow access to the card reader properly.

It pops up three times in a row when I try to print. After that I can print okay.

Best practices for resolving HPHipm11 issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with HPHipm11. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off doing a repair of your installation, or in the case of Windows 8, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.
