hpqthb08.exe improves the time HP Image Zone takes to load. If you disable the process, HP Image Zone takes longer to start. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference

I believe this is a file which improves the time it takes for the HP Image Zone application to load. I disabled this in System Config; and was then able to use HP Photosmart without any further trouble.

I know hpqthb08.exe currently consumes 99% of the cpu availablility on my Dell c400 Laptop
Computer had been infected with a virus that I removed but with task manager I found that hpqthb08.exe file was causing the processor to be at 100% usage all the time. I stopped the file with task manager and CPU usage went way down to normal. I then deleated hpqthb08.exe and rebooted CPU usage was still low. I then uninstalled the HP printer completely with the program uninstall. Computer rebooted normally and CPU usage remained low (normal). Owner can reinstall the HP printer software again is they so desire from their HP software disk. Problem may have developed because of the virus.
Problem is if you see this application using 99% CPU. It is caused by two of the same applications starting in your startup folder. Other than that it is fine to run. Make sure the hpqthb08.exe application is only launched once on startup. If you would like to remove it the appliction will run normally using the Start All Programs HP HP Image Zone which will launch the program hpqthb08.exe just fine. Hope this helps.

hpqthb08.exe is a component of many different HP image zone type programs. It is innocuous and only serves to speed up the initial start up of image zone and other hp scan and fax applications. As other posters have said it will cause an unusual and unwarranted drain on your cpu if multiple instances are some how started. Killing them in your processes and restarting image zone will solve this 9 times out of 10. This program is a liscenced product of HP and will cause no harm to your system on its own, however it is highly unstable and the list of problems on hps support forum is quite legnthy to say the least. if you can find a way to scan and fax without it please god do.

Best practices for resolving hpqthb08 issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with hpqthb08. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off repairing of your installation or, for Windows 8 and later versions, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.
