Description: htpatch.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows or sometimes in a subfolder of the "My Files" folder or in a subfolder of C:\Windows. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 28672 bytes (99% of all occurrence), 206302 bytes, 25600 bytes.
There is no information about the maker of the file. It is not a Windows core file. The program starts when Windows starts (see Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run). The program has no visible window. It is located in the Windows folder, but it is not a Windows core file. Therefore the technical security rating is 76% dangerous, however also read the users reviews.

Important: Some malware camouflage themselves as htpatch.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. I agree with Mirek's assessment of nuisance factor. Search your mainboard's AGP driver installer folders for "HTpatch*" There may be a "HTuninst.exe" file in the same folder. Run the HTuninst.exe to cleanly uninstall HTpatch.exe references from the windows registry. C:\windows\htpatch.exe file will not be deleted but that is harmless to leave around. My P4S8X mainboard drivers were downloaded from support.asus.com

if you dont have hyperthreading, it does nothing. it just sits there and takes up ram. it might slow down your comptuer a tad if you dont have a lot of ram. thats about it.

it is a agp driver for a sis motherboard but if you dont have a pentium then it can cause problems with internet explorer and windows media player.

ich habe leider keinen kommentar, sondern eine frage: wenn htpatch.exe ein prozess ist, der hyperthreading unterstützen soll, warum ist er im taskmanager dann kein system, sondern ein benutzerprozess?

HTPatch doesn't work correct !!! If used, DOS applications in fullscreen mode hang immediately (sure valid for Celeron(=no hyperthreading support),WinXP,SP2)

Die Datei htpatch.exe ist in einem Zipfile dass Treiber für irgendwas mit AGP enthält im Bezug auf ASRock-Boards, downloadbar auf deren Homepage - AntiVir meldet aber einen PMS/HTPatch.A

Systemtest in Antivir Classic hängt beim Einsatz dieser Datei - daher entfernen! falls nicht benötigt
   

Wird benötigt für Hyper-Threading (zwei Chips in einem Prozessor, nachzulesen im link unten) z.B. im neuen Pentium 4 Prozessor, ist vieleicht nicht gefährlich, aber nur sinnvoll wenn man so einen Prozessor besitzt. Bei mir spielten einige Vierenprogramme verrückt und seit dem ich die .exe und den Autostart Eintrag in der Registry gelöscht habe läuft auch mein System schneller.
