If it is removed you will not be able to start Explorer.exe

If it is removed, it will cause your system to not work. You can not pull up the start menu. Everything has to be done through task manager and you cannot do a restore. You have to remove internet explorer as a whole to repair your system.

This EXE that Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 produced tried to read my screen 8 times and hook my keyboard 2 times in less then a hour. The only reason I noticed this is because SnoopFree caught it. Not very nice of Microsoft to put something like this in their Internet Explorer.

iertutil.dll is located in an update for microsoft service pack 3. This update tried to install Internet Explorer 8 on my computer ( i assume becasue i had removed it and installed IE7 a month ago) and when the computer restarted i had no desktop GUI. I could only run from my XP OS's task manager 's run command. I can get online becasue i have fire fox as a second browser. However anything needing the explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe will nto run. at all. iertutil.dll is crap, IE8 is crap..i am sick of microsoft updates poisoning my OS onc ei get it stable and free of thier malware and viruses.

Fix for XP: Run task manager - new task - cmd (to run command window) - use DOS to copy iertutil.dll from c:\windows\system32\dllcache to c:\windows\system32....reboot...fixed!
