if you have an old AMD processor this can cause BSoD when updating to Windows Service Pack 3. there is a script on the internet to disable it.
It craps my machine.
If your computer worked without sp3 and intelppm.sys, then why would anyone classify this driver as essential. I also found it in driver cache i/386.

Updated my intel driver
it gives my windows 7/vista loop reboot or BSOD sometimes and in xp it gives sudden shutdown without warning. I meant no shut down at all. The laptop just off suddenly.
