What is iSCTAgent.exe?

The genuine iSCTAgent.exe file is a software component of Intel Smart Connect Technology by Intel Corporation.
The Intel® Smart Connect Technology (iSCT) Agent was the principal software component of Intel® Smart Connect Technology (SCT), supported from 2012 to 2015 only by Microsoft Windows* 7 SP1 (and later) and Win8, and now discontinued. (After July 1, 2015, direct SCT support questions to the OEM.) Upgrading to Win10 removes Smart Connect Technology. The Agent software requires presence of SCT firmware, which must be preinstalled by the OEM, which enables it to set a timer for wake/sleep cycles. The iSCT Agent carefully observed multiple aspects of platform operation when first putting it into "S3" sleep mode. If all conditions were right, (e.g., having a network connection, applications such as email being open), then at specified minimum intervals, (or longer, depending on thermal and power readings), a lower-power "waking" state was briefly entered allowing applications that were already running to update their data.
