I've never used Kaspersky AVS. Did recently have a bad bout with a virus and a bunce of adware and spyware, and this program seems to be left over from that. Ulitmate Troubleshooter says its loaded from irrmrm.exe, which is in Winnt/System32. No matter how many times I delete irrmrm, or how, it regenerates. It's doing something I can't stop, which tells me it could be dangerous, but I can't be sure.
part of kaspersky anti virus
Kaspersky anti virus - safe
I was told it was a great anti virus program, I cant delete it at all and it uses 18,724k or memory and it wont let me remove it, avoid this software
If accompanied by random 6-dig. .exe file in C:\winnt\system32 folder and rkdk.exe in Allusers\startup: It is a trojan
Microsoft Anti-spyware detects this as trojan.startup.nameshifter.kavsvc... I would be more inclined to believe something from Microsoft than a second rate anti-virus program

Kaspersky personal suite 2005 AV Anti Hack Anti SPAM. This is the absolute best anti Virus program ever
Kaspersky antivirus - KAV. Safe. The best anti-virus
wish i could get shut of it....enemy withinn
it takes over your computer bad. uses all your resources can run anything else
It will not allow me to end its process, which is needed for the uninstillation of the program--i have a new AV program, and want to "uninstall" this one now but it will not allow me to do so. The thing is: I'm not sure as to whether or not I have ever Installed it (with my own consent). It comes with System Mech. 5 pro., which porgram I DID install, but was unable to activate Kaspersky AV (or the Kaspersky firewall porgram). Either way, it somehow became installed on my computer and now I want it off of it and cannot do so.
get real
very good anti virus programm with automatic updates ; totally harmless
The Top Dog on all anti viruses. 1 drawback very long scans, but you can still work while scanning. Kaspersky is the best with very small recources

Uses about 18,000 KB of memory, and does not allow an option to shut off, not even with System Mechanic 6 Professional, which comes with the Kaspersky Anti-Virus, and shows that as a seperate process.
Very good antivirus. I like it a lot. Uses 0% CPU load when idle and about 18 Mb RAM.

It Eats u[ CPU (99-100%) and slow's down computer when i try to run other programs...(i.e. internet....ect.
I don't like that it will not uninstall, this can cause a lot of problems
This is definitly NOT a virus/trojan. It is part of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus database and it is one of the best anti-viruses avialable on the market, detects trojans, keyloggers, sub7 trojans and many many others. For the guy that said a Microsoft program detected it as a virus, the Microsoft program probably detected a file with a virus that is in the quarentine section of Kaspersky which contains virus files isolated from other files but not deleted in Kaspersky. This is the best AV and much better then any Microsoft product.
Kaspersky Antivirus. Best Anti-V on the market. I would trust their work over Microsofts.
Kaspersky is the man who created the heuristic scan and all other anti-virus software are using his technology. If your computer become unusable, it's because you may still had another anti-virus software installed at the same time. Kaspersky Anti-virus and the firewall Anti-Hacker from the same company are the best. I highly recommend it, but remove your old software first of all.
Best Anti Virus Program.
A very good anti-virus program that you can program how you want. Blocks most of the trojans, worms, and viruses. Never had problems with it. I use it with Outpost firewall Pro.

I finally removed this mess by renaming the kavsvc.exe file in the "C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal" folder, then uninstalling it and restart, LIFE IS MUCH BETTER NOW.

Mine did not show up untill I loaded
It's Kaspersky anti-virus.
Eats up so much system resources, feel like I have a 286. I had to reload 3 times, each time it would block my internet. Junk.
It will slow a computer down that doesnt have enough RAM during a full scan. Change the settings of your program to have it run a full scan at a time that you are not using your computer.

Just got it yesterday and Im not able to quarantine trojan viruses easily from my system32 file. Yeah I know my computer has gone to $#*@. :)
Came as part of Defender Pro 5-in-1 and is rated very highly as an anti-virus. True, has a long scan time and it uploads virus definitions every 3 hours which slow down my computer somewhat, but I haven't any problems and I'm not in any particular hurry.
used by both Kaspersky AV and Defender Pro AV. Uses a lot of system resources, but vital to those programs.

Best practices for resolving kavsvc issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with kavsvc. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off repairing of your installation or, for Windows 8 and later versions, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.

To help you analyze the kavsvc.exe process on your computer, the following programs have proven to be helpful: Security Task Manager displays all running Windows tasks, including embedded hidden processes, such as keyboard and browser monitoring or Autostart entries. A unique security risk rating indicates the likelihood of the process being potential spyware, malware or a Trojan. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detects and removes sleeping spyware, adware, Trojans, keyloggers, malware and trackers from your hard drive.
