It is definatly involved in some manor to Blue Screen, Crash, Hang, File replacement was attempted on the protected system file c:\windows\system32\drivers\kmixer.sys. This file was restored to the original version to maintain system stability. The file version of the system file is 5.1.2600.5512. (Caused) The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x10000050 (0x80e39c5c, 0x00000000, 0xbf801206, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini112809-01.dmp.

every audio signal from windows gets routed through kmixer unless you are using ASIO or similar. i think it also enables you to listen to multiple audio signals simultaneously. so if you are not using low latency audio hardware and are not aware of what you are doing you should leave it as it is. whether kmixer causes crashes, i dont know...
sent me to BSOD
on Win XP SP3, mine has Size of 168 KB (172,416 bytes), and Size on Disk of 72 KB (176,128 bytes), which is different from all of the above. It's got a modified date of April 14, 2008, and a created date of April 16, 2010. If I rename it, a new one pops up in its place, with the same data. Is that MS's doing, or a virus, I dont know.
