I have a Logitech gaming mouse but can't run Logitech setpoint because of its incompatabilities with other SW I use but this was still installed. When I disabled it my mouse still had working additional buttons. The only problem I have is I can't change them from the Windows defaults which is a Setpoint function so I would have to say this does not nothing
