Its a Anti Virus kernel and its perfectly safe. Just scans for viruses in the background and you will see the NOD32 icon next to your clock if its installed correctly.
Best antivirus prog I have ever used. I have installed this on systems previously running either McAffee or Norton and it found 2-3 viruses never found anything on a system running AVG though!!
