This is a software protection driver installed with some games and other software. Older versions had a security issue but it can be fixed. Look at the publishers response to the threat below.

Starforce prodrv06.sys, prohlp02.sys, prosync1.sys and sfhlp01.sys are part of the cd protection loaded into windows upon installation of games that use this form of protection. It is NOT part of Microsoft. Currently I am in the process of deleting the entries as they remain even after uninstallation of the game. (Suck).
