When I try to install Maxtor SATA/150 PCI card, the XP wizard says it needs ptipbm.dll, but I can't find it in system32 file.

There are many websites that claim this file is malware. That is only TRUE if: 1. You don't have a Promise SATA Controller installed in a PCI slot or on the motherboard, and 2. Your antivirus or ad/spyware detector programs recognize it as a threat. This file will not show up as a process since Windows only needs it to talk to the SATA controller to access any SATA hard drives you have in your system.
