It not needed unless you need to have computer auto connect to other computers. If that is not needed , delete, no need for its aggrivation!

Suspect there may be a vulnerability whereby the program can be run by malware embedded in webpages. Good program to help prevent this is DiamondCS's Process Guard

This file is connecting my laptop to the internet automatically, even though my isp program not running. I suspect it is being initiated by some bug, spyware, etc.

It automatically puts up my sign in window for AOL.

It is microsofts remote access dialler, it cannot be removed. But the auto connect part of it can be disabled by going to start: Run and type in msconfig, select services tab and remove auto connect.

I have ICS set up.. and I just stopped this program using the services.msc thing, and everything still works fine. I was just tired of it automatically connecting to the internet! lol

I hate the darn thing. Finally I have found what has been causing my computer to go on the internet all by itself. I've had to disconnect the cable from the back lest it will be online all night. I'd prefer not to rate it but it looks a bit dodgy to me and I'd like to know what I have donloaded or installed that inconspicuously planted it.

Probably it's a virus activity. rasautou.exe is just dial up utility wich is used by virus. The virus itself was (in my case) in the mrpky.exe wich is located somewere in "Documents and Settings" directory.

It kept disconnecting me from the internet. I disabled it from Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Component Services/Remote Access Auto Connection Manager Service

Best practices for resolving rasautou issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with rasautou. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off doing a repair of your installation, or in the case of Windows 8, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.

To help you analyze the rasautou.exe process on your computer, the following programs have proven to be helpful: Security Task Manager displays all running Windows tasks, including embedded hidden processes, such as keyboard and browser monitoring or Autostart entries. A unique security risk rating indicates the likelihood of the process being potential spyware, malware or a Trojan. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detects and removes sleeping spyware, adware, Trojans, keyloggers, malware and trackers from your hard drive.
