it is a starforce protection file that comes with a lot of cd/dvd games
protection drivers use in game (cd/dvd even demo like 'brothers in arms - earn in blood'). you can install this demo on seven 64 bits but you can't run it (starforce drivers problems). After uninstalling the demo, you can't start seven : sfhlp02.sys corrupted. my solution (it works for me) : boot on the seven dvd open a command tool rename the two files sfhlp02.sys ans sfdrv01.sys quit and restart. then remove them
This was crashing my win 8 boot alongside with sfdrv01.sys,sfsync02.sys and one more .sys file when you found that you cant boot neither in Win 8 you can use advanced options where you can start boot without drivers, this will prevent them to stop your boot and you can delete them.

Best practices for resolving sfhlp02 issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with sfhlp02. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off repairing of your installation or, for Windows 8 and later versions, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.
