User Comments

I am not a computer geek, just an average user. I downloaded several pirate live webstreams to watch I got all kinds of extra junk, extra toolbars, extra search engines, then one search engine (snapdo) started to hijack my google/chrome preset opening page and multiply itself in the browser bar. Hard to uninstall. I cannot uninstall toolbar either, because it is not listed among my programs under that name. I did a scan with spyhnter4, which found over 400 threats, tracking cookies, browser hijackers, etc. They asked me to pay before removing threats but, fortunately, no payment page (safe cart) appeared so I did not pay. When I realized Spyhunter4 was leading me around in circles, I tried (don't know how successfully) to uninstall it. Along with the video downloaders, it is no longer listed among my programs but there must be traces of it somewhere in my system. I have been a regular user of AVG for at least 6 years. AVG scan this evening did not find any of the threats spyhunter4 found, but I know some of them they must be in my system somewhere, I just don't know where.
Constant pop-ups about my DNS settings being changed but would not accept the restore settings" option!
This is a Spyware / malware. This contained a variant of a spyware. I recommend to remove it immediately. Istartsurf spyware variant is in this program.

Best practices for resolving SpyHunter4 issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with SpyHunter4. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off repairing of your installation or, for Windows 8 and later versions, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.
