Reports to windows task manager as 'IDT PC Audio' on Windows 7 64 bit.
Well, I installed it, and now my sound only worked throught the headphone jack. Tried to revert to a previous driver. Now that doesn't even work.
stacsv64.exe is on my laptop in four folders at C:\dell\drivers\R260553\WDM\ C:\Drivers\audio\R260553\WDM\ C:\Program Files\IDT\WDM\ C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\stwrt64.inf_amd64_neutral_0057cbec48a2d7cf\ Each is size 244,736 bytes. The date of installation is 26/8/2010 or 28/8/2010, about the time I bought the laptop. My interest in it is because it crashed twice in recent days. The crashes were reported in my weekly Soluto report but I wasn't aware they had occurred at the time

Best practices for resolving STacSV64 issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with STacSV64. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off repairing of your installation or, for Windows 8 and later versions, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command.
