Causes high usage of CPU and memory hence the fan noise on my Sony Vaio S Series was too high, when I ended the process the fan noise disappeared, highly recommended action. turn it on again when you need to do your backup using WD SmartWare
It consumes more process power than it's worth

Hogs all memory
It consumes TONS of your pc resources. Reads your HD all the time. The better choice: uninstall it and your PC will be happy again.

Very high CPU usage and took virtually all my memory. Slowed everything down to a crawl. Have deleted all WD programs and totally solved what I thought was a serious computer problem
Go to windows services and change it from automatic to manual start
It suddenly decided to keep filling up our server's free space on the OS drive with a huge temp file, repeatedly.
seems to eat 90% of ram
I just deleted a fake WDFME.exe file on my computer. It was taking up 8GB of memory on my computer!
Total CPU Hog. Sometimes consumes 50% of the CPU... for what???Just causes fan to run to try to cool the heated CPU. Western Digital should be ashamed of this crappy software.
