i also had this problem after installing a d-link wireless adaptor,do not include the windows update for the d-link wireless adaptor as it isnt approved by microsoft despite being part of their optional updates, I had to use system restore to get my p.c working again

Alpha Networks has some"conection" with DLink.Most wireless devices installs this program with the DLink driver.One elegant solution is disable the service in MSConfig,using SERVICE and INICIALIZATION tabs.

This is definetly from D-Link - when I Removed the D-Link software several memory sectors could no longer be read and error continues to show up occasionally. Is it possible that this can actually be permanent from this software?

came with wireless dlink card drivers. Disabling the hardware doesn't disable the program. Remove reg key in hkey_local_machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run/
