If you had Norton or Mcafee before then you might have probs with your HDD going mad when you start with Panda installed. Its a known problem, sorted in version 8.

It's a part of Panda. On my Dell Latitude D600, running Windows XP, it takes 60,000 of my memory. Sometimes it spikes to 340,000. It doesn't shut off after you close Panda automatic protection, either.

Panda antivirus scanning engine. Legitimate process but recently it has been wreaking havoc on our corporate network. Hogs resources on individual PC's and causes problems with paging files and affects performance.

Since loanding Panda I am pig running slow. AvEngine.exe is taking about 30% of the processor.

It's a huge resource hog I prefer to turn it off and run it manually on a regular basis. It keeps my computer clean that way, and doesn't eat my resources.

it just about shut down my computer on me. it cant be neccesary to take that much cpu to get rid of popups and other unwanted garbage.

It's part of the Panda Antivirus, it scan regulary for possible virus threats and uses ususaly 100% of CPU and memory doing so, it's no threat but enoing because it slows down the pc.

Sometimes I'll see the file spike up on my processes to high CPU usage, and then proceed to use more and more memory. Once, I watched it go from 20k to 800k in about two minutes, then go back to 20k, and do it all over again.
