Bartshel.exe is a program that peoplePC uses. Me and the wife just connected to peoplepc until we get our DSL back. When you bring up the logon to PPC screen and it finishes the log on it brings up the browser. if you go into Task Manager and hit end process on bartshell. The PPC browser closes. Bartshell.exe is harmless to your system other than using up a heck of alot of CPU.

I have problems getting online through my provider PeoplePC because of this BartShell Module. I've notified PeoplePc and all I received by e-mail is to go to "getsoftware.peoplepc.com". Okay, now they haven't realized I can't even get or stay online.

I have had problems with the bartshell module and have come up with a solution that has worked for me. When you connect to people pc go to the task manager and click the processes tab. Then find the bartshell exe that is using all the cpu, click on it and click the button end task. ppc page will go away but you are still connected. Your cpu useage will decrease dramatically

Stop the script with NAV when it pop-up; browse with Explorer or Mozilla. Listo! PS I requested People-PC service for more than 45 minutes; they did not solve anything and yet I had to reinstall the windows in my box.

I have been talking with tech support at peoplepc and much like a lot of the rest of you bartshel.exe was making my cpu max out.at 100% according to peoplepc bartshel.exe is for scripting on your home page apparently peoples new version is not compatible with my computer.(thats if you believe what they say) they gave me an address to download an older version of software which i did bartshel.exe still present but cpu now runs at about 8% when online

It seems to be shutting down my computer. After removing People pc software and trying to re-install it, it won't do a complete install. Looking to dump PeoplePC.

if it closes down my comuter and tells me I must do something about it. Sounds like a virus to me

I know that it has consistently tied up anywhere from 50 to 100 % of the cpu. And when i ended the task, it created problems for me to shut down.

I have peoplepc and just recently received the BartShel error and can't even go online with my computer. I have confronted peoplepc with a half dozen phone calls and they haven't corrected my problem at all.
