  • "bigfix" wird beim Windows Start nicht benötigt. BigFix can automatically download and read technical support information provided by computer and software manufacturers and other technical support experts (published in the form of Fixlet® Messages) and can automatically check your computer for bugs, configuration conflicts, and security holes. Should only be started manually as it's a resource hog

Was installed on a T2542 Emachine Win XP system. Unknown why it was there.

this is a product from bigfix company the company claims to be a free antivirus company

It's constantly monitering you and your keystrokes. Maybe antivirus related or not, but who cares, it's some cheap antivirus provider. You have to buy into them in order for updates. You can safetly remove it now. It's just a waste of memory.

Was installed in my gateway computer already, occasionally updates the win XP OS. seems legit to me.

Big Fix is a program that comes with eMachines computers (i dunno about other OSes) and it lets you know about security flaws and offers patches for programs that fixes these flaws

bigfix is malware

I have it on a refurbished Gateway, they used to tell me everything running on my machine. turn it off with msconfig. if needed tech support will ask you to start it.

My brother works for BigFix. This program works like Windows Update for your whole computer, including installed software. It does NOT monitor your keystrokes or your actions.

I strongly suspect this to be some kind of malware.

BigFix was installed on my eMachine computer. It's supposed to be able to detect when there's a problem with the PC. I don't have much faith in the software. It connects to other sites to get "Fixlets" for your PC. It feels more like a security risk than anything else. Plus is puts another icon in the task bar. I have no use for it, I removed it.

Bigfix was installed on my XP emachine. It fixes program conflicts and problems that occur. It has recovered my system from many a problem. As of April 30, 2009 Emachine are no longer in contract with Bigfix and it can be removed from the machine. One can contact the company if to see whether they can continue with the operation if they want to keep it. It is not malware nor spyware.

it works it was on my emachine when i got it

Common application on eMachine and Gateway computers - harmless (unless it's not really BigFix), but unnecessary for more savvy users.
  Roger
bigfix is not malware, is not a virus, and is not monitoring your keystrokes. The process name is now BESClient.exe. Gateway and E-Machines used the agent to deploy patches and install/support HP software. Disabling it will not harm your computer. Letting it run will not either.

It came installed with the Gateway, however it doesn't seem to do anything

eusing reg cleaner cannot remove it. I don't want to fiddle with the registry on this machine too much because it's full of AOL rootkits and although it runs very slowly, it's it's not my PC.

After having a start up config missing error and was unable to run or repair anything, I went to the partitioned restore as a last resort. When the system was reinstalled and my files saved to back up folder, the Big Fix was in the toolbar flashing. I tried everything, went and got drivers, but could not get any drivers to load, all the while BF is flashing away. I took it to a pro, she couldn't load the drivers either, asked about BF (I had never used it) and then tossed it. Guess what the network drivers now load, SOB's likely have cost me allot of aggravation, time and peace of mind!
  Just another abused pUter user
On April 30, 2009 BigFix will no longer be available on eMachines computers. The existing site that displayed your fixlets will no longer be accessible.

Big fix removed a few files from a computer I just restored, it though it was malware, and would not allow anyone to log into the computer. This was the last run program in the computer before it did this. I know it was trying to help but didnt. I dont use 3rd party tools on a computer. I do understand it is doing a job but should never take out needed dll files. It removed files like explained in the below link

It has actually helped me when I updated Vista and the system would lock on me or blue screen. It directed me to Intel to update my cpu. It worked.

Every single day, usually more than once, Big Fix flashes and tells me my attention is needed and to click for more info. When I do, no info appears except a message telling me that there is no problem. It's a nuisance.

Nothing take it off.

Was found and removed by A2. Identified as Trojan Downloader 17876 CRC!IK. Had to shut down and then turn on System Restore after a fresh restart.
