der Treiber wird auch in Windows Vista vom System deaktiviert. Das wäre ja weiter nicht schlimm, wenn nicht bei jedem boot. Diese Mitteilung käme, dass der Treiber deaktiviert wurde. Ich habe bisher folgende Versuche unternommen. Den Treiber in Windows/system32/drives umzubenennen. System startet nicht mehr. Alle Hinweise auf den Driver aus der Registy gelöscht. System startet nicht mehr. Reparatur über DVD Start und Reparaturoption. Ich wüßte gerne wie ich das Ding los werde. Auch ein Programmupdate auf Roxio WinonCD 9 hat nichts gebracht ausser Kosten. günter

File is Created By Veritas. If Windows tries to use this as the Device Driver for your Hard Disk C: you will get a filter error. Microsoft has a cure for this problem. See Link

drvmcdb.sys can be removed from your system successfully AFTER you remove the filter references to it. It attaches itself to the lowerfilters for any hard drive and CD/DVD drive in your system. You need to remove the references to them before deleting the file otherwise as the hard drives try to come up you will experience the infinate reboot issue stated in the comments. Kommt von Roxio, einem Programm für DVD/CD-Rom-Laufwerke. Habe Roxio erneut installiert und weg war das Problem. Anschließend habe ich Roxio gelöscht - ich bin eh' nicht damit zurecht gekommen.

My crash happened right after I dismounted a U3 flash drive. This PC was fine for ~2 years before I got this flash drive. U3 presents a virtual CDROM drive to the system, so there may be a connection.

It causes "near failure" on XP Pro startup since last MS updates for Sep 07. Roxio's solutions was to suggest I buy new software from them. How wonderful.

This file is installed with Roxio / Sonic solutions for the direct to disc. It always runs and sometimes causes the computer to crash. To remove it, uninstall every software from Roxio / Sonic Solutions, then reboot. You'd better choose another burning software, like Nero.

Like Nick Rumin says "It is associated with the DLA program which is part of the MyDVD Deluxe Suite made by Sonic." I did a scan disk , xpsp2, instead of boot after the scan, blue screen crash due to the driver

I believe it was OEM installed on a ThinkPad laptop. Disabling it (used autoruns.exe) causes BSOD on startup.

1) they auto install for LTO-3 tape drives and cause the application to hang and not write data. 2) removing or renaming the drivers caused the computer to go into a continual reboot.

It can be removed by uninstall DLA related software. It solves the "problem caused by sonic solution CD/DVD recording software component (DRVMCDB.SYS) which reboot your pc whenever it tries to read DVD.

I removed it from my Vista install as it was causing a startup error and now I don't have a DVD drive anymore

It is used by Sonic Solutions DLA. Vista says it incompatible. I can't remove it. When I tried Vista fails to boot and I am forced to do a repair install and choose System Restore.

Removal resulted in inability to boot XP Pro SP1. I'm looking at a complete restore as system (HP) will not even start in Safe Mode.

[from Sonic v3.21.65a] Apparently also used by my PlexTor USB Mass memory stick. No problem related to BSOD on boot up on XP Pro. Not running Veritas Software. Have RecordNow DX but never failed.

Every crash (Blue Screen) while my Dell was running idle (windows XP pro) was caused by this driver acording to Microsoft Crash Analysis which directed me to sonic solutions to solve the problem???

It is associated with the DLA program which is part of the MyDVD Deluxe Suite made by Sonic. It causes intermittently a blue screen crash on boot up. Sonic have advised me that they have an upgrade which solves this problem. Have not tried it yet

The driver file drvmcdb.sys, is Veritas filter driver for Windows 2000 and XP. Veritas makes backup and availability products, and are common parts of other utilities which perform those functions. The DRVMCDB.SYS driver from VERITAS sends an IOCTL-Query to Microsoft's PPA.SYS/PPA3.SYS driver(s), Removal of this driver can have some bad side effects you may not see until such time as you ae in need of a critical restore. I would recommend _not_ uninstalling it!
