Lsass is the microsoft Local Security Authentication Server. IT is used to run firewalls and other security features. ISASS is not LSASS. Since the font used by task mgr makes Lowercase l and uppercase I the same, you can't quite tell them apart. Isass is a type of gateway worm, it first gets on your system, and disables your firewall, then takes a hold of LSASS' computer responsabilities, and shuts down your firewalls and other security features.

I also get a error message telling that the object name is not found and it has as a title Isass.exe. When I click ok it automatically shuts down the computer even with safe mode. It has to be a virus.

i got isass.exe from a computer shop using my flash drive and i didn't know until i inserted it in my own pc.. in my case, it really slows down dial up connection andf my computer can't shut down unless i end the Isass program.

l Thats(L) in lsass is fine used as security in some /all firewalls...its when the first character is a capital i (I) then it looks the same but is a trojan. Remove it

Capital Isass.exe is safe. LOWERCASE (isass.exe) is a worm

It slows down my computer processes. it runs 323 processes all at once which keep changing from 'running' to 'not responding' in split seconds. If you try to end the task in file manager it forces your computer to shut down.

It prevents my XP Pro from loading. It is not in C:\windows\system32\ unless it is a hidden file. I did a search for it on another computer running Vista and by doing that it took me directly to the last email I composed and sent.

There is LSASS and ISASS. What I have read is that Lsass is a legitimate Windows program. Isass, beginning with an upper case "i" that looks the same as a lowercase "L" is a virus.

I am unsure if this is my problem. My computer stalls completely periodically now, and sometimes a baloon says USB device is not found or not working, I forget exact phrase, sometimes I must unplug the mouse as this is what it means, when I plug back it works again

it could be a sasser virus, i got one before. to fix it you need to enter your hard drive as a slave drive in another comp then scan it and replace it.

I had an isass.exe error after i had to run repair through windows setup with f12 hit enter to enter setup then f8 to agree ran repair from there, now my wireless network adapter is really screwed, I have to say isass.exe is some kind of virus or an auto execution program that can really do some damage... as far as a virus, not too sure about that... all i know is i have never seen it before and after I did i had to wipe my computer out entirely. You will have to decide for yourself

issas.exe =a Trojan virus ! and is linked to an dll in system 32 and and ex file in hidden folder recycler on C. It creates other exe files in Temp and in Temp folder in Local Settings (hidden folder) + Temp. Int Files folder. Opens backdoor to your PC. Seeks contact to internet after you log in. Very difficult to remove. There is a huge difference with Isass.exe (=actually Lsass.exe)! Why? Becasue this one is Windows related. Read the link for more info. I am using Vista 64 bit and Isass ask permition to pass through my norton firewall, but I didn't allow it. I wait for any malfunction on my system but it just goes smoothly. I think Isass is not that important to the system. On the other hand it is an unknown program so why take the risk anyway.

It's not a virus, its corrupt registry files. From an install disk, or connect the bad hard drive externally to another PC, (not as the main drive), and copy the registry files to the bad hard drive. files are "Windows/System32/Config/(SYSTEM, SAM, SOFTWARE, SECURITY, DEFAULT). Try that.
