Kept trying to access the internet.. Looked a bit shady, and following reading the entries in here (thanks Spad) I decided to obliterate it! deleted all references to it off the hardrive and used regedit to remove from registry also... now.. i'm not sure if this is a coincidence but my internet access speed has gone up from around 700kbps to about 3500kbps..

This file seems to be a spammer application! I installed McAfee A/V and found that my system is sending junk mails!!! Then while debugging found that knlwrap.exe is the cause!! I removed (moved) this file from "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32" my system stopped spamming! I guess the file "scpthdlr.dll" accompanys this knlwrap.exe...

Someone mentioned EZ CD Creator and I recently uninstalled a part of that (v6.x) in order to install a nero equivalent. Since then every time I paste a short cut I get an install dialog that says something about EZ CD Creator...TWICE. Maybe this is the source of it.

As I installed Roxio Easy CD Creator 5, Zone Alarm detected knlwrap.exe in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32 folder.

it is not needed do not install it if asked to buy your security warez, just deny and move on if it is legit this will not impact your current install of whatever.

It tried to install itself when I was installing the drivers for a Canon Pixma MP 130, apparently it came "in" the installation software. My ZoneLabs software caught it and reported as suspicious.

It showed up when installing Microsoft Plus! SuperPack for WinXP. Zone Alarm says it is a keylogger.

ZA issued warnings about knlwrap.exe and I isolated knlwrap.exe to a separate folder - ZA no longer issues warnings and I have not had any problems with installed programs. It does not appear to be essential to any program or process.

I noticed first noticed this file when I was installing the Plus! pack for Windows XP. It also was in evidence again when I ran the Plus! service pack. Zone Alarm Pro (current), and Symantec Antivirus Corporate (current) didn't pay it any mind, other than the Zone Alarm suspicious warning.
   

Is a program that removed symantec and prevented any virus or trojan detect software to be loaded onto the workstation, its only after I canceld knlwrap and Ikernel using the task manger that I was able to delete the folder. Once the folder was deleted, I had to do a registry hack and remove all signs of symantec to reinstall the client.

after downloading a keygen popped up in the C drive (along with a few other files set to hidden that i'd never seen before) i us the python scripting program (Python 23) and after i got a aton of other viruses knlwrap popped up in a suspicously placed (python 22)

It comes with a prefetch" KNLWRAP.EXE-090F9024" and turns legitamate programs into key-loggers. Also check to see if you have "KILL.INI" and "KILLAPPS.EXE" on your system. Until I isolated these in a win.zip file it even caused my d-link 604 to reset itself. ZA Pro stopped it all but could not identify it as spyware, nor could Spybot 1.4 beta or ewido. It's been a long 10 days trying to isolate the problem.
