it's in the symantec folder but tries to access pages that are definitely not symantec. Better have a closer look - could be a programm that hides behind the name of the live update program

Es handelt sich doch um eine Live-Update Anwendung von Symantec, also Norton Internet Securtity (LiveUpdate Engine COM Module!) und gehört in den entsprechenden Programme/Symantec - Ordner!

I'm running Windows 98 SE. When I'm logged on to a site using a VPN encryption package, sometimes my system seems to lock up. It appears that LUCOMSERVER can't reach Symantec and seems to be looping, tying up the CPU. I press CTL+ALT+DEL and END TASK for LUCOMSERVER to allow my primary task to run.

I suspect that it is faking being a part of the Symantec LiveUpdate. When you Live Update manually, my firewall does not notice any attempt on the part of LuCom to access the Internet. It only does it on its own on apparently random times. This is concerning and warrants suspiscioun and further investigation.

This file is related to or part of the symantec norton antivirus/norton internet security suite and is part of the "Live Update" routine for ensuring that your internet security function is up to date. Check out the URL http://www.grc.com for online security testing of your PC. Install Norton Internet Security 2004 or 2005 as I was given a full all clear from grc.com after installing it.

i ran a live update and Lucomserver2.6 was active when i did a Ctrl/Alt/Delete this must stand for live update com server

I see activity and when i do an ctrl/alt/delete it shows up there. don't know how it got there or what it does, but i have recently installed norton internet security.

Symantec's Internet Security firewall always asks me if this file should be able to access the internet. That seems odd if its Symantec software.
