It seems to be a Norton thing for live update for me as well. it comes up when i start my computer in the process list but after i few mins goes away. i did a search and all references to it have to do with norton, now if you dont have norton then you probably have the virus.

LUCOMS~1.exe is annoying. It launches upto 10 other Localcallbackproxys bogging my system for a short while, it also does this several times and task manager cannot stop mine. Bootsector begone with her!

It is part of NAV update, but on my comp. it runs even if the auto update is turned off. but NAV says update is already being run by another user when lucoms is running, so pretty sure its a bug in their system.

It's part of Norton's Live Update, but mine seemed to be eating at my cpu speed. Just adjust settings. You can even manually start update vice the automatic option. No biggy, either way.

It is definately spyware, If you open your Windows Task Manager, you can see it running. I have been copy and pasting to my Word for documentation and find that if I open the Task Manager, the guy or gal from India will jump off as they know I know they are on my system. Look at your history's and trail and you will see their footprint. Symantec does not control the subcontractor to their subcontractor in India. After assistance from their help desk last year, I found my India "friend" signed on my computer twice. I had to call another software company to kill the stolen link program.

If people are experiencing lag, or poor performance because of it, it suggests a deeper problem that may require re-installation your Symantec software; Symantec would be happy to help you do this - most software providers offer free support for installation issues. Removing this program, or even shutting it down temporarily, may leave your PC open to threats - this is likely to slow your computer down more!!!

Turn off automatic live update. Now lucoms~1.exe should not execute by itself anymore, so if you have not initiated norton update manually,but still appears in the task manager it is a virus/worm disguised as norton.

i was wrong about saying that it slows down my computer...its a part of NAV..i figured there was some other porblem on my computer

It appeared in my taskmanager processing list suddenly after installing a keylogging software. On the news 1/16 or 1/17/06 there was report of Symantec admission of spyware loaded into their security package. Makes me wonder what's up?
