I Installed a DVDplayer, PowerDVD, on my laptop which was included with a Gigabyte video card I purchased. The video card was an nVidia 4000 series. I believe the NVRTCLK is used to tweek the video clock on mVidia G-Force boards. I Don't think you need it unless you have an nVidia video chipset. The laptop I installed it on has an Intel video chipset. I don't know if it's needed to run PowerDVD.

Yup, the problem lies in the NVIDIA/Gigabye VGA software. Here is how I solved the problem. First go into add/remove programs and remove anything Nvidia and Gigabyte (vga, not mobo) related; including updates. Then go into system 32 and find the folder “NVRTClk” and delete the folder and its contents. Reboot. Do not reinstall the drivers from the oem Gigabyte CD! Do not mess with the “new hardware wizard; close it. Go to the Nvidia site; downloads and use their drop down list(s) to find your card and download the drivers; they should be as up to date. (I didn’t need any updates) Save, close. Save, close browser and then run the .exe file. Select “custom” install option, check mark all boxes AND especially the one marked “Do clean install”. Once loaded you will be prompted to reboot; reboot. Problem solved; no more error message. Open Recycle bin and delete the folder you deleted from system 32.
