I got PrevX2 as a freeware in at least two desk tops and one notebook. In both desktops, PXAgent.exe did not pose any problem. PrevX2 is even for me one of the better anti-malware. After I had installed Spybot S&D on my laptop, however, I noted that PXAgent.exe hugged 99% of the CPU. Yes, it slowed down my notebook especially during the bootup process. I wanted to remove it but don't know how.

Sat peacefully on my system for a year and then all of a sudden began draining system resources today. It also wants you to contact their website and give feedback before it'll let you remove it. Sorry, but that sounds neither helpful nor anti-malware to me

If its taking all or most cpu usage than it a virus. What it is doing is overflowing your PC so it can input its own instruction and run them. So its basically taking your pc over and turning it into uselessness.

I had a wrm virus, and prevX removed it, but now thet it has served its purpose, I can't get rid of it.

i just shut down PrevX and the PXAgent.exe process disappeared from my task manager list. Seemed no probs. But it was eating up way to much CPU & memory, thats for sure!

It is a GOOD program. If it hogs CPU, it is corrupted. Try shuting it off and restart by right click on icon and select Shutdown. Next fix is to Uninstall and Reinstall. Just Shutdown and restart fixed mine.

I'm running a Intel 3.2 ghz (overclocked to 3.55 ghz) machine with 1 GB memory.. PXAgent uses 133 MB memory and 830 MB virtual memory!!! I think it's a great security program but it takes to much resources. That's why i'm thinking to uninstall it.

PXAgent.exe is part of Prevx. It is not dangerous but does use most of the computers resources. I shut down Prevx and it closes.

I've removed the program and the agent still appears ... suspect it to be either malware or bad programming

It continously collects data from the system and sends it (by installing the software you have to agree to that ) to them. It is for detecting computer crime as they describe in the agreement. Whatever that includes it is for sure that it's not a common anti-spyware/malware tool. Besides it makes no sense they argue it collects the latest threads detected from its users... I dont want to look all the time for malicious activity when I trustfully use a tool for it... beside that I really don't rely on the users searching and finding threads.... how about you?

I installed it on my laptop to remove a spyware that was slowing it down. Now after I've used it the PXAgent.exe is slowing my laptop down even more! And the worst thing is there's no way to remove it. In some ways, this is worst than the spyware!

Yes, it belongs to Prevx, but the problem is that it gives an error message any time I want to close my computer. Moreover, its CPU usage is high and it regularly makes the computer crash. I'm trying to delete it, but it seems impossible, because it is always in use.

All I know is that on a 2.4Gb AMD, 512 MB RAM machine, it takes up over 65% or more of my CPU resources for the first few minutes of bootup, and then settles down, but still uses a LOT of memory while in 'residence' thereafter.
