Using filemon from sysinternals (search on Microsoft web site) I found this process accessing the disk a huge number of times every 5 seconds presumably whilst looking for the phone. Dont know why it needs the disk to do this but its simply a waste of resource and as the PC was running slower than before I installed it I think it has to be classed as suspicious. At best it is badly written software. At worst it is a performance problem rather than dangerous. You don't actually need it for usingthe phone as a broadband connection. Just use a standard windows vpn connection. Call phone provider.

Responsible for blocking out my COM3 (error 633) i.e. modem port. Using Security Task Manager now it is in the quarantine list and the modem back in an operational state. I have used Nokia PC Connectivity Solution in the past though had no such incident. Probably some mis-setting during the installation process this time. Lots of time wasted in working out what causes the problem bearing in mind you are blocked out of the Internet. Thanx Phatasma!

It is the Nokia Syncroniser, which as Ed mentioned, gets stuck in a loop when syncronising the phone messages. So its safe to end task.

Its a Nokia PC Suite service. It hass recently been using high CPU usage and I lost most control of the mouse and keyboard. I can only use the Windows Key and move teh mouse cursor, and Task Manager freezes up. I have to shutdown using the power button to recover. And DMA mode for my DVD drive became disabled all of a sudden. It all started when I was using DVDFab to convert a DVD, then went into C:\ drive and enabled the "unhide vital(?) system files" in Folder Options. The PC just reboots when I attempt to go into XP Safe Mode. Vista still works fine though.

Hogs alot of my CPU. CPU spikes to 20% every 5 seconds.

Blockiert mein Modem (Toshiba M40), Fehler 633 erscheint, Modem bereits anderweitig belegt. Jetzt nach Stunden habe ich endlich herausgefunden, daß es an der ServiceLayer.exe von Nokia liegt. Wenn man sie im Taskmanager deaktiviert, geht die Modemverbindung wieder kurz, nach einigen Sekunden erscheint aber wieder der dumme Eintrag im Taskmanager und der Modem-Verbindungsfehler ist auch wieder da. Lästig!
