Instructions for "neutralising" this service are posted on the CheckPoint website. It is benign, but does use system resources that are better devoted to doing productive work. It can be manually run when required.

Even if turn off Checkpoint , have to kill service to stop it effecting machine when outlook open

Its installed with Checkpoint securemote. When the computer is idle this program scans folders. I detect it with Filemon.exe. I think its a kind of spyware.

It installs with checkpoint, but even when checkpoint isn't running, it causes slows my computer and internet connection. I run a 2ghz pentium with 100mb dsl connection. Even when I kill the process, it says it's still running and won't let me delete the program.

Even after I delete checkpoint, it still runs in the background. I kill the process, and try to delete it, and windows says the it's still running. Eats my bandwidth and processing power when it's running. Not a virus, just a nuisance.
