This site is very helpful to me. I am experiencing blue screen error BAD_POOL_HEADER. My system OS is window 2003. This is started after install the MyDVD software. I have loged in with SAFE mode then did a search for ssrtln.sys file and deleted from the system. Now there is no blue screens. Thanks guys for your valuable help.

This file is an essential part of the DLA boot process. DLA is a packet writing utility created by Sonic. If you encounter an error referencing ssrtln.sys as the source, it may be a one-time occurance. can be disabled via msconfig startup tab, search for: "tfswctrl.exe"

had a bluescreen with a IBM Thinkpad R51. There were two ssrtln.sys installed, one in the windows\system32\drivers and one in the ibm\dla directory. apparently the ibm DLA is used for multisession CDs, so you can use the drag/drop function when writing a CD. After deinstall of "Sonic Updater", "IBM RecordNow" and "IBM DLA" - the problem was gone. If you do not need RecordNow (or use different burn-sw), this might be the solution.

Server 2003 was blue screening with a "Bad_Pool_Header" message. I renamed ssrtln.sys and now it boots corretly.

I was getting the BSOD on shutdown from ssrtln.sys

I solved the problem removing Sonic application. It seems to have conflicts with Windows 2003 Server, instead this utility comes with DELL computers.

Was causing blue screens during bootup of Win Server 2003. Went in Safe Mode, removed this driver and all is back to normal. Uninstalled RecordNow.

From Sonic RecordNow! Plus. Issues running on a (test) Server 2003 Enterprise running on a Dell PC. In safe mode renamed ssrtln.sys to ssrtln.ysy and rebooted. No more startup issues and can still burn CDs.

I'm using a Toshiba laptop which comes with Sonic "Record Now!" program for burning CDs. This is the only sonic program I have on my laptop and I got the same Microsoft Online Crash Analysis about 3 times. "The error is likely caused by Sonic Solutions Shared Driver Component (SSRTLN.SYS)"

I know I installed MyDVD6 pro by sonic and I know after three succesfull shutdowns I had a blue screen ...this was after I tried to burn for the first time...failed .. then shutdown then the blue screen at reboot "bad Pool caller" with a system memory dump

ssrtln is installed as part of Sonic Studio. Problem has arisen when I have changed DVD media type (from DVD+R to DVD +/- R). Changing hardware back resolves issue.My issue is on a compaq, but 3rd party (LG) DVD.
