It, in itself is not dangerous, it is part of a driver package called Soundmax by Analog for it's motherboard chipset. It can cause problems by cycling in XP, see your system manufacturer.

Media players use it for midi files. But WMP leaves it in place, then I can't play other formats. Other apps dump it as necessary.
