Actually, if your UPS isn't connected, it has a memory leak as it searches for the UPS. I've seen it consume 1GB of memory over a month of waiting for the UPS to be connected. If you don't use it, disable it in MSConfig.

If it's causing your CPU to spike then you need to get rid of your crappy CPU, or do some maintainence on your computer to free up some resources.

I found it using 260MB of memory... I only notice this problem when i don't have my UPS backup connected to my pc.. Though i can't be certain, i'm pretty sure it runs better when the UPS backup is properly connected to the pc. I also believe it is necessary for the cyper power software to detect, save work, and shutdown the pc in a power outage

It took me a while to find out what it is. It spikes CPU Usage now and then and makes it jumps from 4% to around 40% and this causes the screen to freeze for a split second, not much but very annoying when watching a video or movie. It is neither dangerous nor good. It goes with a powerpanel program for back-up batteries(to my knowledge, I installed the application thinking it would help in case of a storm). However, I don't like the fact that it uses up CPU power and causes the screen to spike. In my opinion only use the program when you think a storm may knock out the power.
Giving back to the internet community that helps me with so much when it comes to computer problems
