If you have the wrong one, you'll get regularly BSoD after booting from hibernation mode. Some cut versions of WinXP have problems with this file particulary. It might be because lots of things are removed in order to shrink size and improve performance of Win. Nontheless it causes lots of troubles. No virus, but it's definitely not good to remove it.
