It asked permission for access on my VAIO, I always refused it and now I've deleted it. I think it could be coming from watchseries.eu, since firefox warned me for that site today by saying there was malware on it. So yes, I think it's malware

This program has been known to run in older versions of 95 to XP, sytem32 and now Vista. Because Vista has system32 and 64bit, It will reek havoc on start up If you no longer have a Microsoft program to accompany it. It is a node, Dll, DirectX 6. Most programs run with dirX 8 or higher. Anyway here's how to deactivate it, Go to your startup menu type in search area MSCONFIG and press enter. You should see a window that say's SYSTEM CONFIGURATION. Go to the START UP in that window and scroll down until you find MICROSOFT (R)... MICROSOFT CORP... C:\WINDOWS\P...HKLM\SOFTWARE\... and uncheck the box on the left side, click APPLY then click OK. Away goes trouble down the drain! Must restart. To verify point your cursor to WINDOWS\P, It will show you that it is p_981116.exe. That means your in the right place! If you also point your cursor on HKLM\SOFTWARE, It will show you in part what the program is,(WOW 6432 NODE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT VERSION\RUN. Whooollloooppppp your done. As of note, Your not getting rid of it your deactivating it. Uncheck the box. DON'T FORGET TO RESTART......

Yes I do know, P_981116.exe belongs to Rogue Spear Rainbow 6. Anyone that has ever owned this game or owns it will have P_981116.exe pop up all the time. It also comes from DLL direct X 6. Since it is no longer supported it will keep popping up. It is looking for an update which it will not find. It is essential for any program or game that was made In 1998 or 1999 with Direct X 6. It ran well with XP too. Anything higher will cause that effect. If you want to get rid of it, go to Start Up type in config sys or sys config. When sys config window opens, go to it's start up click on it. When it opens up scroll down until you get P_981116.exe and uncheck the bow and your done. P.S. Don't forget to restart! As of note: You may have to scroll down and use your pointer to highlight anything that says Microsoft. When you reach each one run your pointer thru each sentence. P_981116.exe will reveal itself. Uncheck it and restart. Good luck!!!

Mere suspicion as it's from an "UNKNOWN PUBLISHER" if it is associated with WINDOWS I'd have expected it to be, as a minimum, endorsed by them.

Aparently it's a patch for very old DirectX versions (7.0/6.0 and lower) meaning that it's not harmful, according to Microsoft itself it shouldn't run at startup however, so running msconfig and deactivating it from running on startup is safe and recommended. You might get this file by installing a program that uses those older versions of DirectX, if said program stops working you can try to restore it, but again, you don't need to run it on startup.
