This is a legit file however you can also find a fake one in the windows directories. The Real should be about 81kb in size the fake will be 14kb. With the fake one there Google search results come back wrong, giving no matter what you search for link to sites like ebay, top10 lists etc etc. It could have other effects but that is the one I noticed on my system.

On my system, this was causing google searches to be redirected. AVG eventually found it and "healed" it.

Have 2-wdmaud.sys-C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.82KB.System File. 4/14/2008 8:47a.m. "and" wdmaud.sys - C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\sp3.cab - 82KB. System File. 4/14/2008 - 5:47a.m.1 is trojan, etc./tried to rename-it duped file/get redirected Each time-all"main" browsers; got hit w/trojans, viruses, etc. - began w/XP windows security that DL'd w/o my consent (it dups original and "seems" like a normal update and keeps re-directing you to the site to pay $; refused and files were removed from folders - thrown into other applications; tried Malware Bytes (no good), Vipre (throw up-more trouble than it's worth) - but still getting re-direct. Is not hidden under devices (instructions for similar "redirects" says say drivers). 2nd file not a driver; 3 hrs apart!
