What is AnyDesk.exe?

AnyDesk.exe is the executable file for AnyDesk, a legitimate remote desktop application developed by AnyDesk Software GmbH. This software is typically located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\AnyDesk folder.

AnyDesk is primarily used to access and control a computer or other device from a remote location over the internet. Common uses include:

  • Remote technical support: IT professionals use it to troubleshoot and fix issues on a client's computer without needing to be physically present.
  • Working from home: Employees can access their office computers from home, allowing them to use files and applications as if they were in the office.
  • Personal use: Individuals can use it to help friends and family with computer problems or to access their own home computer while traveling.

A user might need AnyDesk.exe on their system if they require any of the remote access capabilities mentioned above. It may have been installed by the user, by an IT administrator for support purposes, or it may have been run as a portable application without a full installation.

Conversely, a user might consider removing AnyDesk.exe for several reasons. If you do not need remote access to your computer, the software is unnecessary. More importantly, scammers and malicious actors can abuse AnyDesk. They may trick users into installing it to gain unauthorized access to their computer, steal personal information, or install malware. If you do not recognize the software or recall installing it, it could be a sign of a security risk. A legitimate file can also be replaced by malware using the same name to avoid detection.

To help determine if the file is a threat, you can use tools like the Security Task Manager, which can provide more detailed information about the AnyDesk.exe process running on your computer and verify its authenticity.

Remote access program, requires authentication and goes through their servers. Fine, so long as you or your technician is using AnyDesk for remote support.

Remote acess program. I am a technition, so I use it to provide remote support to my clients and friends, just like I do with TeamViewer. With this tool I can acess their machine and do everything I want. It requires you accept the remote access or you can configure a unique password, so this way you may have a not suppervisioned access. If nobody provides you remote support you can uninstall it, but id does't offer you any risks because you have to allow the access

The one that I downloaded from the site is 1811144 bytes. One of our software vendors used it to remote into our computer to troubleshoot an issue on our end. It made the fix easier than him trying to tell me what to do over the phone. There are other remote access utilities out there. This one seemed easy to use.

I think AnyDesk is a Trojan. While it has been on my computer, I have experienced several problems with my PayPal, Amazon and other accounts. I have had money withdrawn from my bank account through PayPal. I suspect AnyDesk for these problems.

AnyDesk is a legit app but is being used as a Trojan. It came to my computer as an email from FedX. Trial version was downloaded and file was installed. From there they had access to my computer and could control it as if I was using the mouse. They can get into anything on your computer including passwords and banking. They first took money out of Paypal which Paypal, at first would not investigate since it came directly from my computer. They then ordered items on Amazon. Luckily I had an American Express card connected to Amazon and Paypal and was able to get my money back. But, if I had had a debit card or bank account linked then I think I would have no recourse.
