Computer started running slow and freezing often. I ran a full virus scan and turned up nothing, rebooted a couple times, but nothing seemed to help. Then, opening the task manager just after rebooting, I saw Aimersoft Studio running for a few seconds, then disappearing. I never installed Aimersoft, and I know it wasn't among my startup programs last week. It doesn't appear on most lists of applications, but does show up on things specifically to find and disable startup programs. I disable it there, then find the .exe among my program files, right click on it... And my whole computer freezes up so badly that I have to disconnect power. When I boot up again, it is significantly faster, and my startup monitor still shows ASHelper as disabled; this time I can delete the files manually with no problem, and my computer is running smoothly. In conclusion: the file I had by this name is definitely a virus of some kind, and it both hides and defends itself well, but not unbeatably so. If you see this program without knowingly installing it yourself, do everything you can to disable it and then destroy with extreme prejudice.

It runs on startup in background. When I installed the keepvid app for dling video and music this was included in the install

Computer was running smoothly until I noticed my hard disk was running at times very slowly and even having to restart explorer.exe a few times. Everything seemed normal based on what I saw from task manager other than this service taking up little CPU and RAM. This program booted up upon turning on my computer. It was weird because I don't ever remember installing this program which leads me to believe this is malware in disguise as software. Restarts did not help. Windows update was broken until I uninstalled. I ended the task and uninstalled the program and everything seems fine again. Both Windows Defender and the latest version of Malwarebytes did not detect as anything malicious.
