It is used with Brother printer support.

BrYNSvc.exe is for the Brother Status Monitor of networked brother printers. In my case a WiFi printer. When I use my firewall to block this file I can’t see the status (online/offline and ink levels) of my WiFi printer. When the file is unblocked by my firewall the printer status shows as ready and not offline. I can also see the ink levels of the WiFi printer.

Brother printing monitor. Really boring that the first reaction is to call it something horrible. Better would be to say it may be a printer monitor - i.e., first look for it's purpose rather than a scare.

My webroot scanner caught it as a virus and removed it for me and I have a Brother's printer!

Whilst not harmful to your computer, some antivirus products will query it's safety, and in worst case scenarios it will not report correctly the status of the printer.

I have a brother printer so this is a legit program.

This process moves huge quantities of data: That alone rates it as suspicious since there is no explanation from Brother for this. 'Checking for updates' takes mere moments (compare version installed to current version)and this quantity of data (Gigabytes while Explorer is doing Megabytes)is ridiculous. However: Killing the service also kills the Brother printer monitor network communications, so you lose online/offline indications and ink quantity information - including early warnings of empty cartridges. Mostly I let brYNsvc run until the printer monitor has had time to warn me, then I kill them both before starting anything else so that it makes it more difficult for it to spy & report - if that is what it is doing (does anyone actually know?)

I have never ran a Brother Printer on any computer on my network'

I uninstalled and threw away my Brother MFC Printer. It wouldn't recognize official Innobella (Brother) cartridges. Scoured PC deleting anything BROTHER. PC has been unstable. I found BrYNvc in Task Manager RUNNING. I disabled it. Searched File Manager and NOT FOUND. Shouldn't be running in Task Manager. I believe it's a TROJAN.
