HPCommRecovery.exe is an executable file that is part of the CommRecovery software developed by HP (Hewlett-Packard). This software is typically pre-installed on HP computers and laptops. The file is usually located in the C:\Program Files\HPCommRecovery directory.

The CommRecovery software is designed to help users recover their system in case of data loss or system failure. It provides a backup and recovery solution that allows users to restore their system to a previous state, recover specific files or folders, or even perform a complete system recovery.

The need for HPCommRecovery.exe and the associated software depends on the user's requirements. If you frequently make changes to your system or handle important data, having a recovery solution like CommRecovery can be very beneficial. It provides a safety net in case something goes wrong, allowing you to restore your system without losing important data.

If you find that you never use this feature, or if you have another backup and recovery solution that you prefer, you might choose to remove it. Some users might choose to remove it if they find that it uses too many system resources or slows down their computer. Before removing it, make sure you have another reliable backup and recovery solution in place.

On a fresh windows install (new Omen Bang & olufsen HP laptop from Frys) it is filling the application event logs with "Received Scan fail" warnings and "Force connect to network: wifi". Printer / scanner has never been installed and current working connection is Ethernet hardwired.

Not a lot. I disabled it in "services" and re-started my hp pc. No errors encountered. PC bootup time reduced by 8 seconds.

eats up to 98% of your cpu, causes severe lag spikes.

Found on a customer's computer. While it was residing in the Program Files directory, it still seems suspicious. Removal reduces boot time greatly, and it is no longer reserving nearly all of her CPU and causing incredible load times and constant time-outs.

I have a NetGear NightHawk router. When ever HPCommRecovery.exe would activate, my router would reject the connection...disconnecting me from the wifi. It took me time to figure out what happened but the wifi disconnects found in the router's logs matched up with the event in the Windows Application event from hpcommrecovery.exe. The event ID was 0 and the text from the event was "Force connect to network". After I disabled hpcommrecovery.exe, I no longer had these random wifi disconnects. Also, the router log was showing this "[WLAN access rejected: incorrect security] from MAC wifi NIC's MAC address "
