It stalled some of my programs, and then gave me the message that it was used by Canon to monitor my printer for help with marketing decisions, the message gave me the option to unstall it. I later did so using Revo Uninstaller. This has caused no problems. I'd say it's basically benign, but who wants extra resources used for no useful purpose?
