What is LightingService.exe?

LightingService.exe is an executable file that is part of the AURA software developed by ASUSTek Computer. This software is typically installed on computers with ASUS motherboards and is used to control the RGB lighting of the computer's components and peripherals.

The AURA software and its associated LightingService.exe file are used to customize the lighting effects on your ASUS devices. This includes the motherboard, graphics card, and other peripherals that support ASUS's Aura Sync technology. With this software, users can synchronize lighting effects across all their compatible devices, creating a unified look and feel.

If you are using ASUS hardware and wish to control and synchronize the RGB lighting across your devices, then you will need the AURA software and the LightingService.exe file. Without it, you would not be able to customize the lighting effects on your ASUS devices.

While LightingService.exe is not a critical system file and your computer can function without it, there are a few reasons why you might want to remove it. Some users have reported that it can cause high CPU usage, which can slow down your computer. If you do not use the lighting features on your ASUS devices, or if you use non-ASUS hardware, you may not need this software and can safely remove it.

You should not remove LightingService.exe if you are unsure of its purpose. Deleting or disabling system files can cause unexpected issues with your computer. If you believe this file is causing problems, it's recommended to use a trusted antivirus software to scan your system.

Part of Aura... RGB Light Service from Asus

It is for lighting up the LED on the computer. Not the screen. It sometimes uses up too much power so go to AURA and set lighting mode to static.

ASUS Aura RGB software

Asus program for AURA RGB software. Do you use RGB components on your PC? Keep it. If you don't have RGB components, uninstall.

it consumes up to 10% of ryzen 5 3600. it's much for asus aura lightning

It's part of ASUS Aura sync, but it is so bad, it uses 16% of my i7-6700k to do nothing. All of the lights are currently off and music sync is off. It's not even processing anything, its just a poorly made app and a CPU hog.

I Have no Idea what LightingService is... Sometimes it just runs in the backround but other times it takes more than 90% of my CPU up... I have no idea how to get rid of it or if its malicous

i had a case, when i was playing borderlands 3 via steam, that lightingservice had a cpu load on over 70-80% or more alone running as a single process, i had a stuttering framerate performance ingame with 0-5 fps on average, had to forcequit it via tskmngr, went fine afterwards, running at 120+ fps on average.

was eating arround 10 % CPU on Windows 11 Pro in the processes... bye asus :)

it triggers the Easy Anti-Cheat Engine...IDK why though

Using 10% of 5800x means it's running something heavy in the background. Not normal for a 'lighting service'

I have Asus MB that uses Aura lighting control and the smoother you set the effect the more resources it will consume.

Lightening Service is not downloaded on my ASUS computer but it continues to try to access my memory folder, but window security blocks it. How do it get it to stop?

issue was 20% cpu usage

Just an application from Asus which controls lighting effects. use static or breathing mode to minimize cpu load. or just uninstall or inactivate.

Uses 10mb/s from my network

20% CPU Usage, lool Change to static in aura.exe and hit overtake, done! I'm not going to use icue or armoury crate cuz there worse in my opinion! ;)

Easy AntiCheat (used in fortnite as well as other things) flags it as potential cheating software and won't let you run Fortnite with it running
  campbell
literally just caught it uploading data with netlimiter, I don't know why it needs the internet to run RGB. definitely not something I want it doing though
