My Dell uses Realtek audio. It's useful for configuring the mic and headphone 3.5mm input for many things besides just a mic and headphone jack. It's how I can use a 3rd party soundcard to do things like rip my vinyl into mp3 or other audio files and has many useful features for me. It has never caused me any issues including high CPU even when I have it in use. I would say though that I believe it is mostly a Dell OEM application, possibly others but I can't confirm because all of my computers have been or are Dells. I would imagine that Dell isn't the only PC manufacturer that could or would use the software, it is independent of any in particular, 3rd party private, no affiliation with Microsoft or any other computer hardware brand. As I say, my experience with Dell is they have all had it, I use it, and it works just fine and always has. 0 issues, ever.

I had some problems with my audio on my Windows 10 computer and needed to fix it. I installed the latest version of the Realtek driver and now everything works perfectly as before. It is in some cases necessary and of course not dangerous.

It is a service application for RealTek Audio. It is important to have this service enabled otherwise the onboard audio will start to malfunction with future use.
